ELJ Academy of Dance : Better When I’m Dancing

Sit back, relax and enjoy the show as members of ELJ Academy of Dance entertain you with their dance talents in their end of year dance production “Better when I’m Dancing”!! Students as young as two years old will be taking to the stage on Monday June 3rd, performing a variety of styles of dance .

Choreographed & directed by Emma Louise Jupp and assisted choreography by Eric Whelan, Laura Keane, Kelsey Turner and Tara O’Neil.

ELJ Academy of Dance is a fun based Dance School with the opportunity of graduating to professional dancer level. Past students are have studied in dance colleges in Cork, the Uk and Europe. We also have students currently following in our footsteps and training to become fully qualified dance teachers. ELJ also offers a competitive program, with lots of championship dancers at National and International level. Above all we pride ourselves on our enjoyable, friendly classes specialising in hip hop, musical theatre, slow dance, freestyle, tap, acro, lyrical, contemporary and ballet.

Cork City Ballet presents The Sleeping Beauty

Prepare to be enchanted as Cork City Ballet in association with Cork Opera House, Cork City Council, RedFM and Benchmark International reawakens the timeless tale of Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece – The Sleeping Beauty.

Directed by CCB’s Artistic Director Alan Foley, and choreographed by their chief choreographer Yury Demakov, The Sleeping Beauty reawakens the magic of the world’s favourite fairy-tale in an enchanted world of castles and curses, forests, and fairies.

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, Princess Aurora lived in a castle where fairies bestowed her with gifts of joy, wit, generosity, temperament, purity and of course beauty. However, the wicked Fairy Carabosse put a curse on Aurora; to prick her finger and die on her 16th birthday. But the Lilac Fairy cast a spell putting her to sleep for a hundred years, only to be awoken by the kiss of a Prince.

The leading role of Princess Aurora will be danced by prima ballerina Katerina Petrova, and her Prince will be her husband Tsetso Ivanov, both stars with the Sofia State Ballet in Bulgaria. They will be joined by soloists and a full corps de ballet from Cork City Ballet.

Sleeping Beauty – The Ukrainian Ballet of Peace

Following two sold-out performances of Swan Lake at Cork Opera House in 2023, The Ukrainian Ballet of Peace returns once more and brings every child’s favourite fairy-tale ballet, Sleeping Beauty to the renowned Cork stage in March 2024!

Sleeping Beauty is the classic story of love and innocence, mystery and magic set to one of ballet’s most enchanting scores. Experience world-class choreography, majestic costumes and sublime stage sets which carry audiences straight into this fantasy world and let The Ukrainian Ballet of Peace make this fairy-tale come to life right before your very eyes.

The Ukrainian Ballet of Peace is made up of over 30 of Ukraine’s finest dancers who have graduated from the most prestigious schools and academies in Ukraine and the company are very excited to bring their heritage and culture to Ireland once again in 2024. The Ukrainian Ballet of Peace repertoire was created in the best traditions of the art form, continuing and inheriting the experience of the great Ballet Masters of the world.

Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance

For a quarter of a century Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance has been dazzling audiences across the globe with its unique combination of high-energy Irish dancing, original music, storytelling and sensuality. Now it comes to Cork Opera House as part of its 25th Anniversary celebrations.

Since its premiere 25 years ago, Lord of the Dance has become one the most successful touring productions in entertainment history, having been seen by over 60 million people.

Now the show will go to the next level for its 25th anniversary tour. Fans can expect new staging, new costumes and choreography plus cutting-edge technology, special effects and remarkable lighting. This ground-breaking show is coming to Cork Opera House this Summer for 5 nights and 2 matinées. Don’t miss out!

Vincent Simone – Tango Passions

Accompanied by world-class Argentine Tango specialists, let the original Italian Stallion take you on a journey to Buenos Aires and enjoy his dancing, tales and poetry about the history of the Argentine Tango.

Tango Passions also stars Argentine Tango specialist Paula Duarte as Vincent’s leading lady. Featuring music from Astor Piazzolla and Gotan Project.

Cork City Ballet presents Swan Lake

If you’ve never seen Swan Lake, now’s your chance!

Cork City Ballet is back, and the company’s full-length production of this ballet lays claim to a legacy that extends back to its premiere at the Bolshoi Theatre in 1895.

Cork City Ballet’s production promises to be spectacular, from the opulent costumes to the alluring sets, especially the opening scene’s gold-tinged, tree-framed park in the shadow of the great castle and lake. All the well-loved elements are still in place including the magical “white acts”, with the famous cygnets’ dance for four girls; the exquisite white swan pas de deux; and the Act III climactic ‘Black Swan’ pas de deux complete with thirty-two fouettés – all wrapped up in Tchaikovsky’s glorious score.

As usual, Cork City Ballet will have exquisite guest artistes to dance the lead roles of Odette/Odile and Prince Siegfried, and they will be accompanied by soloists and a full corps de ballet.
