Camilla Griehsel’s Mamasongue

Mamasongue is a celebration of songs from distant lands, and just around the corner, brought to the stage by Camilla Griehsel, one of Ireland’s most versatile and passionate singers. Camilla sings songs from around the world that transcend the constraints of culture, time and place to show that a song’s true meaning can be deeply felt, regardless of its language.

“I am drawn to the universal emotions in performance,” says Camilla. “As we travel from culture to culture, we’ll find parallels in the way music resolves into nurture, love and joy from keening laments to the comfort of a lullaby. From a mother’s tongue comes the primordial language of song beyond words.”

During the show, Camilla sings of love, loss and longing, passion, desire and joy. She reaches out and reminds us of the undeniable connection between us all.

Camilla Griehsel, born in Sweden, has over thirty years professional experience from pop recording artist to avant-garde opera, from traditional jazz to South American folk. She is dedicated to bringing people together and connecting hearts through the power and universality of song. Backed by world-class musicians, Congolese guitarist Niwel Tsumbo, South African Bassist Concord Nkabinde, Irish Percussionist Éamonn Cagney and Johnny Taylor of the Johnny Taylor Trio.

Bruised Orange – A John Prine Tribute

Grammy-winning singer Prine was one of America’s greatest songwriters and combined literary genius with a common touch – for five decades, he wrote rich, plain-spoken songs that chronicled the struggles and stories of everyday working people and changed the face of modern American roots music. When he passed away in 2020, John Prine left behind an extraordinary body of folk-country classics.

Boasting some of Ireland most experienced musicians, the Bruised Orange band is made up of Michael ‘Mike Mack’ McGarry (Rhythm Guitar & Vocals), Anthony Toby Cregan (Lead Guitar, Vocals), Derek Matthews (Bass & Vocals) James Quinn (Keyboards) and Shay Carry (Percussion). Each member brings a unique set of talents and abilities to the group which provides for a unique live John Prine experience. The show is fronted by Mike Mack McGarry who accurately reflects John’s vocal range with similar ease of delivery, an affected twang and drawl, which thrive of a peculiar, domestic relation to country, folk, rhythm and blues. His storytelling and short anecdotes are also a testament to a Bruised Orange live show.

Lead guitarist Anthony Toby Cregan is one of Irelands most revered guitarists, His style and playing reflects that of Jason Wilbur, Prine’s go-to guy from the early 1990’s up until John’s death. Bassist Derek Matthews is known from one of Irelands top wedding bands ‘Stop the Clock’. His double bass and look again reflects that of Prine’s bass man Dave Jacques. Drummer Shay Carry is the backbone of the band with his unique style. Shay has toured extensively with some of Irelands top country artists.
